A Little This... A Little That
A little update on the happenings at the Johnson house. Two weekends ago we went to Chattanooga to visit the Tennessee Aquarium. Matthew and I agreed that it had been 3 years since we had been to Chattanooga. A far cry from the weekly trips we made a few years ago! We had a great time and visited a few of the places we liked when we lived there. This past weekend we spent at home and enjoyed a relaxing couple of days. Now it's time to begin packing for our trip to Alaska. I'm really excited, but not looking forward to the 10+ hours of flying it will take us to get there and then home again. We ended up buying a seat for Ethan after observing him week after week in church. I started to picture the person in front of us after about 20 minutes of him kicking their chair or during a tantrum, and then I envisioned the person in the window seat needing a bathroom break just about the time he finally fell asleep, and then there's the snack cart he would want to push up and down the aisle. Oh what have we done?... Hopefully having him strapped into his carseat will prove beneficial to all. Will let you know how it goes when we return. Until then enjoy these pictures I know I do!!!

Not so sure about these bubbles!

I do love to take a bath!!!

Look at the Sting Rays.
If I was a little bigger I could touch them.

This window works pretty well.

Ooo! Look at all the fish!

Daddy don't let that giant crab get me.

Hello Mr. Penguine.

Rain, Rain go away... we want to go out and play!

The Big 3-0!
So your thinking this can't be a post about Jenny's birthday, that was what like 2 weeks ago? But alas it is. I have been so terrible about keeping up with this blog since 2009 started, and since I gave in and joined Facebook. But I think I am back and will try to make short simple posts from now on so I don't have the feelings of failure and the desire to give up blogging because I just can't update on all the things that have happened in the past 3 months ect. ect. Here are a few pictures of the 2 birthday celebrations I had. The first was with my parents at Maggianos, the second at a surprise party my wonderful husband planned for me.

Here are the 2 people that made this birthday possible so many years ago. Thanks mom and dad!
My wonderful family.
These are the type of cupcakes mom was making the night she went into labor with me. They are yummy!
Note the look of resignation as if to say, "fine mom just take the picture so you can stop volunteering me to be a flower every week in Sabbath School."

Working on my birthday was no fun, but recieving these beautiful flowers at the office from Matthew made it less tramatic.
Take note of the child with the missing shoe...my son! Oh the fun never ends around here :)
Ethan found the walker I was given to be so fun to push around. At least someone enjoyed it. Just kidding I got a good laugh out of it too.
*These next two pictures I post with hesitation for fear of being accused of subjecting my child to cruel and unusual punishment by Matthew and Ethan later in life. But I think they are cute and will take my chances with the need for counseling in the future.
This look just screams," I don't know what you're so excited about!" :)

What has Ethan been up to???
Well as usual Ethan has been keeping us very busy! We are still at my parents but plan to move home Sunday or Monday. Right now we are house sitting while they are in CA on a road trip. Here are just a few photos and some videos of what Ethan has been up to.
You will notice the ever present stick in each hand.
Isn't spring beautiful!
Ethan is much braver now than he was a few weeks ago when he would cry if we even had his tunnel in the house and he saw it.
First comes love then comes marriage then comes Ethan and Emmaline with the baby carriage. (He gave his first girl a kiss today...Emmaline, and it was pretty much a French Kiss if you ask me. Then he did it over and over and over! What can I say?)
Riding the Carousel at the zoo)
This is how Matthew found Ethan the other night while we were eating supper.
Ethan has learned what eyes, ears, mouth, nose and tongue are but likes to show us his tongue best!
He also likes to show us his belly button and thinks it's funny to poke mine when he is in a shopping cart.

Now Don't You Worry Your Little Head Off...
we are still alive and well despite my longer term absence from blogging. You may be wondering how hard can it be to take a few minutes and give a little update on life with the Johnson's, but when your kitchen looks like this...
It seems like little else matters!
Needless to say we are remodeling our kitchen. My parents did a very nice job decorating, about 10-15 years ago, but it was due for a much needed facelift! So on January 26 we moved out of our humble abode to live the life of luxury. Hot tub steps from our back door, huge TV, floor to ceiling windows, our own private bathroom, soring ceilings, granite countertops, our own personal babysitter, and a wonderful cook to boot... the list goes on and on!!! Where you say, could you be staying? With mom and dad of course. (Smile) It has been so nice to stay here with my parents, it makes working on the house so much easier since we can just walk over anytime and Ethan can take a nap or go to bed and we don't have to worry about the noise or fumes, or dust. Other than the fact that my parents "in progress home" is a virtual deathtrap for a 13 month old who loves to explore, it has been great. We figure Ethan is learning what can hurt him and what can't early on in life, but I'm sure when we leave my mom will breath a little easier! Also, between Ethan and Max (our dog) we have emptied every drawer and cabinet at least 100 times. They make a great destructo tag team! In all seriousness, it has been great to be staying with my parents. Matthew has been on a mission trip to Guatmala for the last week so it has been nice to have someone around to keep us company and help with Ethan.
As for a little update on life since my last post in January... we had a little excitment Super Bowl Sunday as we caught our back fields on fire. You should have seen my dad, Matthew and me out there beating the fire out. We did a pretty good job until several strong gusts of wind came and it took off like "wildfire" no pun intended. Ended up we had to call the Vol. Fire Dept. and it ended up burning about 10 acres. That was a Super Bowl Sunday to remember! Then Ethan got his first real cold and had Croup. I didn't know if we would make it staying up all night just holding him since he wouldn't let us lay him down. After a week of sleeping less than being awake at night,I remembered why I told Matthew "No more babies for a while!" Then in the beginning of February I started back to work. One of the girls I worked with at the Pediatric office is having a baby and I am going to be working Tues and Thurs for her for a few weeks. Even though I miss Ethan, I am really enjoying spending time with some adults and I know he and mom are having a great time at home! As for our ETMO (estimated time of move out), we don't know. Matthew comes home tomorrow and we plan to start working really hard to get back in our house. We have already refinished the cabinets and striped out all of the flooring and wallpaper. Tomorrow they are coming to install our countertops, and then we can start the process of putting things back together we'll keep you posted. The following is a slide show that shows what we have done so far. I'll try to keep up with the pics a little better.

One Year Ago...
January 14, 2008
.JPG)

We brought Ethan home from the hospital 1 year ago yesterday. Hard to believe the difference a year can make!
A little update on Ethan for this week... He now tells me night night when he is ready for his nap and walks into his room and stands by his crib pointing at it and whining until I put him in for his nap. (we will see how long that lasts!) Today he said banana (sounds more like anana) when I was getting ready to feed him one. Outside is Ethan's favorite place to be and he will stand by the door and point outside and say his version of outside over and over and then cry when I say not right now. Yesterday I bundled him up and we looked for sticks (his favorite activity) for 15 minutes outside, but today the high was only 19...oh won't spring be nice! So much fun to see his little mind changing everyday!
*I was tagged by Stacey Prentice to post the 4th picture in my 4th album and explain what is going on in the picture. Am suppose to tag 4 others to do the same. I tag Amber C., Erin, Rebekah, and Monica

This is Matthew and Me at Thunder over Louisville in 2007 we are waiting for the big fireworks show that starts at dark. Watching the airshow during the day. This event kicks off the Kentucky Derby, and we have been several times. Lots of people but also lots of fun!

One Lucky Little Boy!!!
Well I know it's now almost the middle of January and I'm just posting Christmas pictures, but with Christmas, Ethan's 1st Birthday (which we celebrated 3 different times in 3 different places), and New Year's, I have been a little busy. Now that I have the Christmas tree down and the Birthday toys under control I thought it was time for an update on the wonderful time we had between December 25 and January 1. Hope that everyone else had just as much fun and I can't wait to see what 2009 will bring. Happy New Year to EVERYONE!!!
Warning this is a long slideshow but there was just so much to share!
