we are still alive and well despite my longer term absence from blogging. You may be wondering how hard can it be to take a few minutes and give a little update on life with the Johnson's, but when your kitchen looks like this...
It seems like little else matters!
Needless to say we are remodeling our kitchen. My parents did a very nice job decorating, about 10-15 years ago, but it was due for a much needed facelift! So on January 26 we moved out of our humble abode to live the life of luxury. Hot tub steps from our back door, huge TV, floor to ceiling windows, our own private bathroom, soring ceilings, granite countertops, our own personal babysitter, and a wonderful cook to boot... the list goes on and on!!! Where you say, could you be staying? With mom and dad of course. (Smile) It has been so nice to stay here with my parents, it makes working on the house so much easier since we can just walk over anytime and Ethan can take a nap or go to bed and we don't have to worry about the noise or fumes, or dust. Other than the fact that my parents "in progress home" is a virtual deathtrap for a 13 month old who loves to explore, it has been great. We figure Ethan is learning what can hurt him and what can't early on in life, but I'm sure when we leave my mom will breath a little easier! Also, between Ethan and Max (our dog) we have emptied every drawer and cabinet at least 100 times. They make a great destructo tag team! In all seriousness, it has been great to be staying with my parents. Matthew has been on a mission trip to Guatmala for the last week so it has been nice to have someone around to keep us company and help with Ethan.
As for a little update on life since my last post in January... we had a little excitment Super Bowl Sunday as we caught our back fields on fire. You should have seen my dad, Matthew and me out there beating the fire out. We did a pretty good job until several strong gusts of wind came and it took off like "wildfire" no pun intended. Ended up we had to call the Vol. Fire Dept. and it ended up burning about 10 acres. That was a Super Bowl Sunday to remember! Then Ethan got his first real cold and had Croup. I didn't know if we would make it staying up all night just holding him since he wouldn't let us lay him down. After a week of sleeping less than being awake at night,I remembered why I told Matthew "No more babies for a while!" Then in the beginning of February I started back to work. One of the girls I worked with at the Pediatric office is having a baby and I am going to be working Tues and Thurs for her for a few weeks. Even though I miss Ethan, I am really enjoying spending time with some adults and I know he and mom are having a great time at home! As for our ETMO (estimated time of move out), we don't know. Matthew comes home tomorrow and we plan to start working really hard to get back in our house. We have already refinished the cabinets and striped out all of the flooring and wallpaper. Tomorrow they are coming to install our countertops, and then we can start the process of putting things back together we'll keep you posted. The following is a slide show that shows what we have done so far. I'll try to keep up with the pics a little better.
